Recent Texas City Jobs

AC Replacements, Attic Repairs and Plumbing We've Done in Texas City

Texas City jobs from our records

Eight recent jobs, newest first, by ZIP code and month. No names, no addresses.

• 77590, September 2026: one home, one project. Repiped the whole house, installed a tankless water heater and three new toilets, then cleaned the ducts, repositioned the duct runs and insulated between them.
• 77590, August 2026: attic AC condensate line stopped draining. Cleared it and re-ran the drain from a hard-to-reach attic unit.
• 77590, June 2026: system kept freezing up after a visit in May. Replaced the evaporator coil, the TXV and the filter-drier.
• 77591, March 2026: replaced a 3-ton condenser and evaporator coil in a horizontal set-up, with a new drain pan, float switch and condenser pad. Flushed the copper lines and drain lines first.
• 77590, January 2026: installed a complete 3.5-ton electric system: new air handler with evaporator coil and a no-leak drain pan.
• 77590, October 2025: replaced the condenser fan motor and capacitor on the outdoor unit. Same month, another 77590 home: duct cleaning upstairs and down, plus duct sealing.
• 77590, July 2025: water line work at the meter. Dug about two feet down to the main, set a new tee and hose bib and tied back in to the meter.
• 77590, January 2025: furnace would not heat. Replaced the gas valve.

About three of every four jobs in our records here are in 77590; the rest are in 77591.

Not cooling in a 1970s house in 77590: coils, TXVs and fan motors

Most of our calls here are summer not-cooling visits on single-system homes, and a lot of the equipment is old: units original to 1970s houses, a 1984 system, a 2006 unit. The June 2026 job above is typical: a coil that kept icing over, fixed by replacing the coil, TXV and filter-drier instead of topping off refrigerant again.

In July 2025 a compressor in 77591 was replaced under the manufacturer’s parts warranty, so tell us the system’s age before we quote. See AC repair and AC maintenance.

Horizontal attic systems: 2- to 4-ton replacements in 77590 and 77591

Full replacements are a large share of the work here: 25 installs in two years, gas and electric, mostly horizontal attic installs. The March 2026 job in 77591 shows what goes with one: line set and drain lines flushed, a new pan, float switch and condenser pad. Estimates are free, most installs take one day, and we install any major brand except American Standard. A new system carries our 1-year labor warranty; the manufacturer’s parts warranty is separate. See AC replacement and installation.

Gas valves and furnace checks when a Gulf cold snap reaches Texas City

A furnace that runs only a few nights a winter fails quietly: a weak part goes unnoticed until the one cold week that needs it. The January 2025 gas valve above is that call. In March 2026 a 77591 homeowner booked a heating check on a 1973-built house, which is the point: check in a mild month, not the morning the heat won’t come on. See heating and furnace repair and heat pumps.

Water heaters, tankless units and the whole-house repipe of September 2026

In 77590 more than half the homes predate 1980, and the water heater calls there include tanks around nine years old starting to leak. The September 2026 project went further: a whole-house repipe with a tankless heater and three toilets on the same job. We repair, replace and flush gas and electric tanks and install tankless units. See water heater repair and replacement, tankless water heaters, repiping and toilet repair.

Water lines at the City meter, gas lines and backflow devices

The City of Texas City owns the water line up to your meter; from the meter in, it’s ours. The July 2025 job above sat right at that line: two feet down to the main, a new tee and hose bib, tied back to the meter. In February 2026 a 77590 homeowner called after the City checked his meter and told him the leak was on his side. We repair leaks we can reach, replace water lines and repipe whole houses. We don’t do slab leak repair.

We run and pressure-test gas lines for dryers and ranges. If you smell gas, leave the house, then call 911 and your gas utility; the piping from the meter in is ours. Texas City runs its own backflow prevention program; if your device is due, call and we’ll explain how it works here. See plumbing repair, water leak repair and gas lines.

Shower drains, tub drains and a cast-iron main in the older core

In April 2026 a 77590 shower that wouldn’t drain was cleared the same day. Our drain calls here run to tubs and showers, and in August 2026 a 77590 homeowner called us for a second opinion on a cast-iron sewer main diagnosed as collapsed. On an older house we camera the line first; the inspection is part of the free diagnostic and you keep the video. We don’t put a jetter on old cast iron or clay. See drain cleaning, sewer line repair and hydro jetting.

Condensate lines, soaked insulation and duct cleaning in a bay-side attic

Water in the wrong place is the second theme in our notes from 77590 and 77591: overflowing pans, clogged attic condensate lines, wet insulation under the air handler. In July 2025 we cleaned biological growth out of a 77591 air handler, added a primary float switch and cleaned the ductwork. Once the water is stopped, cleaning the plenums and runs clears what settled while they were damp. See air duct cleaning.

Texas City Homes & Water

Texas City's Water Department, the 22-Mile Levee and Its 1970s Homes

One city, one water department.
The City of Texas City runs water and sewer itself, through its Utilities Department on Highway 146 North, so the name on your bill is the name to call. For water running in the street, the City’s Utilities page lists a leak-reporting line, with an on-call number on the recording after hours. The City owns the line up to your meter and the sewer main under the street; from the meter in, call a plumber.

The water quality report is posted every year; hardness usually isn’t.
The City posts its annual water quality report on its website, every year since 2013; the 2025 report was announced in May 2026. Texas reports don’t have to list hardness, and we don’t publish a number we can’t trace to the City. If scale is building up on fixtures, we install water softeners.

Median year built: 1978 in 77590, 1993 in 77591.
Census estimates for 77590 show about 54% of its 13,900 homes built before 1980 and 22% since 2000. In 77591 it’s the reverse: about 44% of 7,600 homes built since 2000 and 34% before 1980. That split matches our job list: the 1970s-original AC units, the cast-iron second opinion and the whole-house repipe were all in 77590.

Inside a 22-mile levee.
Much of the city sits behind a 22.1-mile hurricane levee protecting about 36 square miles, maintained by Galveston County and counted by the Army Corps of Engineers among its Galveston District’s five hurricane flood protection projects.

During Hurricane Ike in 2008, the county said, the water came within 18 inches of the top. Behind the levee, water that reaches a house is more often rain and street drainage than bay surge. A water heater or closet air handler that once stood in water deserves a look.

15°F on the morning of February 16, 2021.
The National Weather Service list for the February 2021 storm shows the Texas City station at 15°F that morning and Galveston’s airport at 19°F. Inland ran colder (Bush Intercontinental read 12°F), but 15°F is far below what exposed pipe survives. What splits: supply lines under a pier-and-beam house, hose bibs, attic lines above the insulation, water heaters in garages. Wrap them before December.

Google Reviews From the Kind of Work We Do in 77590 and 77591

Four Google reviews that match the work mix here: two AC repair visits (one of them setting up a relative’s system), a maintenance visit and a service call. Google doesn’t show where a reviewer lives, so we don’t claim these came from Texas City. Shown in full, as written; the company averages 4.9★ across 860+ reviews. Read all 860+ reviews on Google

Where We Work

Texas City ZIP Codes, Landmarks and the Drive From Our Shop

We cover both of the city’s ZIP codes: 77590, the older core east of the Gulf Freeway toward the dike, and 77591, the west side along the Emmett F. Lowry Expressway (FM 1764). We also work next door in La Marque.

There’s no Turbo office here. From Breen Drive in northwest Houston (77064) it’s about 55 miles: I-45 south, the Gulf Freeway to the Lowry Expressway, then east into town, roughly an hour and a quarter in light traffic. We put that drive at one end of a technician’s day.

Nearby, see Dickinson and League City. Everywhere we go is on Areas We Serve.

Drive times are estimates from OpenStreetMap routing with light traffic.

William, Owner & Technician
Meet the Owner

Hi, I’m William, Owner & Technician

“I still run service calls myself.”

We’ve been making the drive to Texas City since 2018. It started with AC: a 1970s house on a single system, not cooling in July. We’ve replaced a lot of systems there since, and now many of our calls are check-ups and warranty visits on equipment we installed between 2021 and 2025.

The plumbing grew out of the same houses. A home from 1978 that needs a new coil tends to need a water heater soon after, and the September 2026 repipe above went in on the same job as a tankless heater and three toilets. Because of the distance we book it at one end of the day, and you have the price in writing before anything starts. Ricky Mills, our Responsible Master Plumber (RMP44595), is the license behind the plumbing; the AC and heating work is under mine.

FAQs

The Drive, the Levee and the 1970s House: Texas City FAQs

Don’t see your question? Call (281) 595-8241, Monday–Friday 7:30 AM–6 PM or Saturday 8 AM–2 PM.

The street in front of my Texas City house is wet, or sewage is coming up past my cleanout. Whose problem is it?

The City of Texas City. Its Utilities page lists a leak-reporting line, with an on-call number on the recording after hours, and the City owns the water line up to your meter and the sewer main under the street. A leak between the meter and the house, or a backup on your side of the cleanout, is plumber work.

Fifty-five miles each way: what does that do to my schedule and my bill?

Nothing to the bill: there’s no trip fee, and the diagnostic is free for homes. On the schedule, we book Texas City as the first or last stop of the day with a two-hour window, so a same-day visit depends on where the trucks already are. The city has been in our job records since 2018, and a good share of our calls there now are on systems we installed. After hours, our automated booking assistant schedules the next opening.

Our AC is the original unit from the 1970s and it still runs. Should we leave it alone?

If it cools and the bills are bearable, we won’t push you; our records here include a 2.5-ton unit original to a 1970s house and a 1984 system, both still in place when the owners called. Parts for units that old are hard to find, though, and when it quits, it will be in July. Have us look during the free diagnostic and you’ll get a repair price and a replacement price in writing.

Scale on the shower glass: does the City's water report give a hardness number?

Not one we can show you. The City posts its annual water quality report on texascitytx.gov; the 2025 report went up in May 2026. Texas reports don’t have to list hardness, and we don’t publish a number we can’t trace to the City, whatever a softener sales page claims. If your fixtures scale up, we install softeners.

Our house sits on blocks. Can you insulate the water pipes under it before winter?

Yes. Pier-and-beam homes in the older part of 77590 have supply lines under the floor, open to the wind, and those are the pipes that split in a freeze like February 2021, when the nearest weather station read 15°F. We insulate the exposed runs and hose bibs and replace brittle sections while we’re under there.

I need an inspection and a written estimate for an insurance or FEMA claim. Do you do that?

Yes. Homeowners here have called us for exactly that: a water heater and an outdoor AC unit that needed an inspection and estimate for FEMA paperwork. We put the condition and the repair or replacement price in writing. The inspection is part of the free diagnostic; we don’t tell you how to file, we give you a clear document to file with.

Another plumber says our cast-iron sewer line has collapsed. Is a second opinion worth it?

Yes, and a 77590 homeowner asked us for one in August 2026. We camera the line as part of the free diagnostic and you keep the video. Cast iron from the 1960s and 70s does fail, but a blockage and a collapse call for different fixes, and we won’t jet old cast iron. If the line is sound, hydro jetting carries a 90-day warranty.

We're in La Marque, just across the city line. Do you come there too?

Yes. La Marque (77568) is in our job records alongside Texas City, and it’s the same drive down the Gulf Freeway, so the same terms apply: no trip fee, and the service call and diagnostic are free for homes. Call or book online and give us the ZIP.

A 1978 house that won’t cool, a tank water heater in its last year, or an attic drain line backing up again? Call (281) 595-8241 or book online. The service call and diagnostic are free for homes, you’ll have the price in writing before any work starts, and the 55-mile drive is on us.
